The idea behind Mm is for me began when I was looking for unique first birthday gifts. I started to design personalised shirts and it has grown and developed and now includes fun learning for little ones.  When I started looking for a wall alphabet with lower case letters and couldn't find one, I thought it was time to start designing!

Of course everyone learns in different ways, but interaction with print and sounds at a young age can help start the ball rolling.  Each picture in the letter begins with the same sound as the letter, so giraffes are for Gemma's G, but not for Gabby's G, and acorns are for Ava and but don't make the sound for Anna's A. The Mm is for me alphabet has been designed in collaboration with experienced teachers.

There are also interesting facts to be found along the way for general knowledge. This also helps create awareness for our indigenous endangered animals, like the numbat and quoll.

For each wombat item, $1 will be donated to the Wombat Awareness Organisation. We will also donate to the Australian Platypus Conservancy for P is for Platypus, and to Project Numbat for N is for Numbat products.

Made by mums

I stitch Mm is for me’s letter appliqués and cushions at home in the strawberry patch and sometimes my mum Wendy is roped in to help -  when she isn't running her kindergarten and when Will isn’t trying to climb on her lap to “help” us. 

The images for each letter are hand sketched and then adapted in CAD for the letters.  Each screenprint is hand cut and hand printed. I also design each item in the Mm is for me range.

Mm is for me slippers are sewn by Lorelle and her mum Julie. Lorelle and I met through the Parenting Young Babies course at the hospital and have been part of a wonderful mum’s group since.

About me

I am a mum and an interior designer. I grew up in Zimbabwe and studied and worked for five years in South Africa. I then moved to Australia where I met my husband, who grew up in Zimbabwe too. We have lived in Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast, and have also spent two years on a cattle and grain property in Central Queensland.  We are now living on a farm on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

Our son William is three years old and we have a baby on the way. I run my business from home. I have a BA Hons in Interior Design. I have drawn on my experiences in Africa and Australia, in design and in working with children.
